September is here and with it come shorter days and a cooler breeze in the air.

We are now moving from the energy of summer which is outgoing to the energy of autumn which in inward moving.

The autumn season in Chinese medicine is associated with the lungs and preparation for the colder months. Have a look below for our 4 tips to prepare yourself for the change in seasons.

Using Traditional Chinese Medicine, here are some tips to staying healthy through the autumn months:

1. Eat seasonally and cooked foods. Autumn is a time to eat warm foods such as soups and stews. Eat a variety of seasonally available foods such as squashes, pumpkins and kale.
2. Make sure you get plenty of sleep. As the nights are drawing it, you might want to go to bed a bit earlier.
3. Exercise. Gentle workouts and breathing exercises are helpful in keeping the lungs strong and get your energy moving. Exercise is also a fantastic way to books your serotonin levels.
4. Wrap up warm. The lungs are particularly vulnerable to cold, wind and rain. Wear warm clothing and a scarf to keep your lungs warm.
