As the leaves begin to change and the air becomes cooler it reminds us that autumn is here.

Some love the cosy feeling that autumn brings, but many find the change in the seasons is more about coughs, colds, low mood and lack of energy. If you are affected by the transition to autumn, acupuncture may have the answer.

According to Traditional Chinese Medicine, each season affects specific organs and the coming months are related to the lungs. As this is the season we are most likely to fall ill with the common cold, it is important to look after our lung energy.

Coughs, sore throat, foggy head, fatigue, achy body and headaches are some of the symptoms that I am commonly treating with the change in weather.

The emotions associated with the lungs are grief and letting go. Acupuncture can be very helpful for those who suffer from seasonal low mood and lack of energy as it brings the body to a more balanced state.

If we live in balance with nature, autumn is about contracting and slowing down, looking inwards, getting ready to rest (for the winter). Spend time deep breathing and visualising letting go of everything that no longer serves you.
