With Christmas fast approaching I would like to thank you for all your support over the last year.

This can be a difficult time for many, who find the whole festive season a bit overwhelming, and who could blame you? There’s an awful lot of preparation that goes into it with many expectations to be met. But please take some time for yourself. Pause, breathe and remember all the little things that make you grateful and bring happiness. One of the things I am most grateful for in my life is Pure Health Acupuncture. I never dreamed that I could love work this much, having the chance to be a part of so many amazing journeys and meeting such kind and open hearted people everyday.

The magic of winter also brings the inevitable colds, flu and other illnesses. Stress, excessive working, poor nutrition and lack of sleep can make our bodies especially vulnerable.

Here are some simple things you can do using the principles of Chinese Medicine to strengthen your body’s natural defenses:

  • Have a diet rich in root vegetables. Root vegetables are known in Chinese Medicine  to strengthen the lungs and increase immunity. Try adding beets, sweet potatoes, parsnips and turnips into your diet on a regular basis.
  • Cover your neck. Chinese Medicine believes that illnesses invade the body through the back of the neck. Wearing a scarf will protect you.
  • Rest, stay home and take good care of yourself. At the onset of a cold or the flu, eat warming and nutritious food, drink teas infused with ginger and cinnamon to stimulate your immune system.
