ACUPUNCTURE

Acupuncture -How it can help

Acupuncture is one of the oldest forms of traditional medicinal treatment. It is steeped in knowledge of the human body that has been acquired over millennia!

The healing system of Acupuncture is based on the concept of meridians. Meridians are channels that go through the whole body, they are the pathways that carry our life energy, known as Qi. In Acupuncture, we believe that it is blocks in the energy channels that cause our body to go out of sync resulting in imbalance in different parts of the body.

This is why, when I see a patient I look at the patient as a whole. I study their diet, their lifestyle and try to identify the root cause of the pain and discomfort.

We live such fast-paced lives, with our attention being split across multiple factors which generates a lot of stress and anxiety. Sometimes, just so we can cope,  our body holds that stress in certain regions of our body, causing our Qi to stagnate. This stagnation of Qi throws our body out of balance and affects our health and well-being.

By using acupuncture I can help bring your body back to a state of harmonious equilibrium. By releasing the blocks in the Qi I can facilitate the smooth flow of energy which will bring your body to a state in which you can enjoy optimal health.

Acupuncture – How It Can Help With Fertility & IVF

As well as holding a Diploma in Acupuncture, I have also undertaken extensive postgraduate training in fertility, which is now one of my specialist areas.

Research has shown that acupuncture may increase IVF success rates to 61%. This is compared to just 48% for traditional care alone. There are various ways in which acupuncture may help to increase IVF success rates, including:

    • Relaxing your body and lowering your stress levels
    • Improving the function of your ovaries to produce higher quality eggs
    • Regulating your hormones to be able to produce a larger number of follicles
    • Increasing the blood flow to your uterus
    • Increasing the thickness of the uterine lining
    • Strengthening your immune system

To receive the best results, it is recommended that you start your acupuncture sessions ahead of starting the IVF. This is due to it taking between 3-4 months for women to form new follicles and 3-6 months for men to develop new sperm.

Acupuncture can also help to reduce some of the side effects that occur because of the medications used during IVF. Side effects can include hot flushes, headaches, nausea, bloating and restlessness.

    Qualifications in Acupuncture and Naturopathy

I hold a Diploma in Acupuncture and a Diploma in Naturopathy from the renowned College of Naturopathic Medicine in London.

Since qualifying, I have undertaken extensive postgraduate training in Chinese medicine including fertility, women’s health and menopause, sports injuries and pain management, pediatric shonishin acupuncture and auricular (ear) acupuncture.

I am registered with the Association of Naturopathic Practitioners and General Naturopathic Council.

My clinic is located in Crouch End, North London.

    TESTIMONIAL

“I was just lucky to have chosen to go to Nadine at the right time! She is so thorough in her approach whatever the issue and there’s always that personal attention and reassurance she gives you.
She listens to and analyses your problem and suggests a treatment suitable to you and never a one-size-fits-all approach . After having done a lot of tests and finding no issues acupuncture was my last resort and it was the best decision I had taken . Can’t thank you enough Nadine!” Anila V
