EAR ACUPUNCTURE

EAR ACUPUNCTURE EXPLAINED

The rather small surface area of our ears has over 200 acupuncture points! Each minuscule point corresponds to our internal organs as well as other parts of our body. Stimulating these intricate points along the inner and outer earlobes can re-energise the nervous system bringing back vitality and vigour in the body.

During my training I took  a postgraduate course (National Association of Detoxification Acupuncture) which specialises in treating addictions as well as helping patients affected by PTSD with auricular acupuncture.

Auricular acupuncture is a safe and highly beneficial treatment that is used to manage numerous health conditions such as addictions from smoking, alcohol and drugs, for weight loss, headaches, insomnia and weight loss.

Auricular acupuncture can be used as a stand-alone treatment or in addition to body acupuncture to reinforce the treatment outcome.

Ear seeds

Along with the use of fine needles, a popular and convenient method in auricular acupuncture is the use of ear seeds.

Ear seeds are tiny beads placed on acupuncture points along the ears to activate them. Pressing down gently on these seeds stimulates the corresponding part of the body, the seeds act as a guide for patients enabling them to manage their symptoms independently between treatment sessions.

Auricular acupuncture – How It Can Help With Addictions

As well as receiving a Diploma in Acupuncture, I have also undertaken postgraduate training of the NADA treatment protocol in auricular acupuncture.

Auricular acupuncture is often used to help treat various addictions. This can include addictions to alcohol, smoking and recreational drugs. It can be carried out in conjunction with other forms of therapies, including support groups, or as a stand-alone treatment.

Studies have shown that auricular acupuncture is able to reduce anxiety levels. This can be a symptom of addiction, as well as paranoia and depression. For example, a recent study concluded that auricular acupuncture has an anti-anxiety effect.
